Shavu'ot

Ok... so here is the deal. We've done quite a bit of everything for the past several weeks, and today I just feel like cleaning closets, organizing books, shampooing the carpets, etc!
Yeah... it's cleaning time! Then tonight it's Bible study!

Tonight at sunset is Shavu'ot (The Festival of Weeks also known as the Festival of the First Fruits) when we celebrate the giving of the Torah and when the first fruits were harvested and brought to the Temple.

Work is not permitted from sunset tonight until sunset June 9th.

So... gotta get serious house cleaning done today!

Tonight we attend Bible study. I'll tell my kids the story of Ruth as their betdtime story (because it is customary to read from the book of Ruth), and we wake up mega early to pray.
We love G-d and we want to serve Him with all of our hearts.

You shall count for yourselves -- from the day after the Shabbat, from the day when you bring the Omer of the waving -- seven Shabbats, they shall be complete. Until the day after the seventh sabbath you shall count, fifty days... You shall convoke on this very day -- there shall be a holy convocation for yourselves -- you shall do no laborious work; it is an eternal decree in your dwelling places for your generations. -Leviticus 21:15-16, 21
